How the scholars invoke Al-Matīn.
-
"and killed the lion while the people looked on; that day his sword was named al-Matin. That day Sa'd kissed the head of Hashim, and Hashim kissed the foot of Sa'd. Hashim charged the Persians, drove them from their positions and routed them, reciting the words of the Most High: "Did you not swear before that you would never pass away?" When night came the Muslims moved on and encamped at Nahr Shir, and whenever they halted they said the takbir, and so on until the last of them arrived with Sa'd."
— Ibn Kathir, Umar ibn al-Khattab
