How the scholars invoke Al-Bāqī.

  1. "He freed a great number of his slaves, and then, after all of that, he left great wealth, among it gold that was cut with axes until the hands of the men blistered; and he left a thousand camels, a hundred horses and three thousand sheep grazing at al-Baqi. His wives were four, and one of them was settled with for her quarter of the eighth for eighty thousand. When he died, Uthman ibn Affan prayed over him, Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas carried his bier, and he was buried in al-Baqi at the age of seventy-five."

    — Ibn Kathir, Uthman ibn Affan

  2. ""Bury him; God and His angels have already prayed over him." Then they said: "He is not to be buried in al-Baqi; bury him behind the wall." So they buried him east of al-Baqi, beneath some palm trees there. Al-Waqidi mentioned that Umayr ibn Dabi leaped upon his bier while it was set down for the prayer over him, and broke one of his ribs, and said: "You imprisoned Dabi until he died in prison.""

    — Ibn Kathir, Uthman ibn Affan

  3. "Then al-Awwam ibn Khuwaylid married her after him, and she bore him al-Zubayr and Abd al-Ka'ba. It is said that al-Awwam married her as a virgin, but the first is correct. She died in Medina in the year twenty, at the age of seventy-three, and was buried at al-Baqi, may God be pleased with her. Ibn Ishaq mentioned others besides her who died. Uwaym ibn Sa'ida al-Ansari He was present at the two pledges of al-Aqaba and at all the engagements. He was the first to cleanse himself with water, and concerning him the words of the Most High were revealed: "In it are men who love to purify themselves, and God loves those who purify themselves." He has transmitted reports."

    — Ibn Kathir, Umar ibn al-Khattab

  4. "It is said that the Kharijites did not allow them to be buried, but dragged them by their feet until they threw them on the pavement, and the dogs ate them. In the days of his rule Mu'awiya took care of Uthman's grave, removed the wall between it and al-Baqi, and ordered the people to bury their dead around it, until it joined the graves of the Muslims. An Account of His Description, May God Be Pleased With Him He was, may God be pleased with him, handsome of face, fine-skinned, with a large beard, of medium build, big-boned, broad between the shoulders, with thick hair on his head and fine teeth, with a brownness in him;"

    — Ibn Kathir, Uthman ibn Affan
